Thank you for participating in the river and green spaces cleanup around the University of Malaya on April 30, 2025. This meaningful activity was hosted by UMCares and the UMCares Club, with activities organized by UMSDC and Water Warriors.
The cleanup was part of the student and staff mobility exchange program, bringing together participants from Universitas Negeri Malang, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo (Indonesia), and Cor Jesu University (Philippines).
A total of 45 students and staff took part in the effort, collecting 22.16 kg of waste. The breakdown includes:
9.88 kg of recyclables, primarily plastic bottles, which will be sent for recycling.
12.28 kg of non-recyclable waste, which was appropriately disposed of.
Interestingly, there wasn’t much rubbish found in the area, which is a positive sign of growing environmental awareness in the community.
It was inspiring to see everyone come together with such enthusiasm, proving that small actions can lead to meaningful change. Thank you for being part of this effort to protect and preserve our environment. Every step we take together brings us closer to a cleaner, greener future.
