UM Water Warriors (WW) was initiated as a bottom-up initiative in 2012; one of the senior and pioneer initiatives of UM Living Labs focusing on sustainable water management on the campus. The team focuses on rehabilitating water bodies, reducing water consumption, and collaborating closely with the university's Estates Department to achieve these goals.
Among their significant achievements are the rehabilitation of Tasik Varsiti, the creation of complementary wetland and stream areas around the lake, and the establishment of Sungai Mustafa, all accomplished through partnerships with various stakeholders across UM.
In addition to on-ground efforts, WW actively engages the campus community and the public through outreach programs. These initiatives include citizen science activities such as water quality monitoring and urban biodiversity assessments. The team also emphasizes environmental education, offering activities like nature walks at Tasik Varsiti, nature-inspired art, upcycling workshops, river clean-ups, educational talks, and more.
