Sustainability Benchmarking Visit and Sharing of Best Practices Session

A group of executives, engineers, and operational teams from Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) paid a benchmarking visit to Universiti Malaya to mutually share best practices between the two parties.
Universiti Malaya team mainly consists of two PTj, i.e., the Department of Development and Estate Maintenance (JPPHB) and UM Sustainability and Development Centre (UMSDC). Mr. Noor Azril Ramli (JPPHB) and his team members from Sustainability Section (Mr. Norhisham Mat Dom & Mr. M Arif Nazir) shared on JPPHB initiatives cutting across different divisions, followed by Mr. Nadzmi Nor Hakim & Mr. Maszairizam Masri (from Landscape Section of JPPHB). Mr. Fadhli and Mr. Affan (UMSDC) shared a walkthrough presentation on UM sustainability commitments which include the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), UI GreenMetric World University Rankings (UIGM), Times Higher Education Impact Rankings (THE IR), and the QS World University Rankings on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). Two members of UM Zero Waste Campaign (UMZWC): Mrs. Mairuz Asmarafariza Azlan and Mr. Hisyamuddin Che Harun also joined the sharing session on waste management.
UMP team comprises the Centre for Property Management and Development (PPPH UMP) and UMP Holdings members.
Both parties shared their best practices on waste management, transportation, and water while exploring energy and landscape/infrastructure initiatives.

The session concluded with site visits to a few sustainability sites on UM campus led by the JPPHB team from Environmental Sustainability and Health Unit. We hope that more higher education institutions adopt green and sustainable campus practices to benefit the people, environment, flora, and fauna.
