In December 2023, we successfully concluded the 'Superhero Iklim' challenge competition, engaging 37 groups comprising more than 177 participants. Throughout the event, these dedicated individuals tackled six weekly challenges focused on climate change mitigation. Activities ranged from minimizing daily energy consumption and executing DIY energy conservation projects to championing recycling initiatives and actively reducing their carbon footprint. Participants also demonstrated commitment by earning badges through eco-friendly endeavors such as sustainable commuting, water conservation, nurturing plants, and embracing solar-powered technology.
We extend a warm invitation to all those interested to participate in the 'Superhero Iklim' closing ceremony on January 18, 2024 (Thursday), 5:00 PM at Dewan Kuliah 3, Faculty of Science UM. During this event, we will share key highlights from the challenge, unveil the winners, and engage in discussions about gamification for climate change engagement. Your presence will add value to this significant occasion, and we look forward to your participation.
This initiative falls under the UM EcoCampus Living Lab Grant (LL2023ECO014) administered by the UM Sustainability and Development Centre (UMSDC). The project's primary objective is to investigate the efficacy of gamification as an intervention to promote pro-environmental behavior, with a particular emphasis on its potential impact in mitigating climate change.
