UM - Air Selangor Partnered-Up for
Kita Jaga Air Challenge 2022:
429 Participants in 7 Weeks of Engaging Water Conservation Challenges

“Kita Jaga Air Challenge” (“Contest”) is co-organized by Universiti Malaya and Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (“Organizers”), which is solely responsible for the execution and management of the Contest. This Contest aims to incentivize users to set long-term water conservation goals by reducing their daily water consumption and instilling place-based river care.

The launch of the Challenge and the Collaborative Agreement exchange ceremony between Universiti Malaya and Air Selangor was held on 30th October 2022 at Rimba Ilmu Botanical Garden. UM is represented by Professor Ir. Dr. Shaliza Ibrahim, UM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), while Air Selangor by Mr. Thavendran Loganathan, Head of Risk Management for Air Selangor. This collaboration is part of the continuity of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) inked in 2021, especially on the successful development of Air Selangor's Water Handbook - Sustainable Consumption and Conservation for Individuals and Organisations. The Handbook is available in dual languages on the Air Selangor website:
Malay and English.

With seven weeks of engaging activities, training, and educational exposure, this Challenge has garnered 429 participants. Kita Jaga Air Challenge is coordinated by Water Warriors UM c/o EcoCampus@UM, a unit under the UM Sustainability and Development Centre (UMSDC). The Challenge concluded on 25th December 2022, and the winners are expected to be announced early January 2023. Kudos to all participants for your awesome support in this year's Challenge!
