Students Shaping a Sustainable Campus by Empowering Change
[UMSDC's Contribution to UPSI Youth Eco-Educator Innovation Summit 2024]

Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) has organized UPSI Youth Eco-Educator Innovation Summit (UYEIS) 2024. This summit aims to educate youth on the utilization of technology for managing various changes and technological advancements in line with social innovation and Student for Society (S4S) initiatives within the Ministry of Higher Education's Semarak Siswa Madani program.

UMSDC's slot titled "Students Shaping a Sustainable Campus: Empowering Change" was delivered by Ms. Nuratikah Mohd Zainodin (UMSDC's young research assistant). This segment provided a platform for students to exchange ideas, strategies, and initiatives aimed at fostering a greener and more sustainable campus environment. Through collaborative efforts and innovative solutions, participants explored ways to reduce plastic usage, promote recycling, and enhance environmental awareness within the university community.

The slot underscored the importance of student-led initiatives in driving meaningful change towards sustainability. By empowering students to take ownership of their campus's environmental footprint, the summit catalyzed a collective commitment to adopt eco-friendly practices and promote environmental stewardship.

With the momentum generated by the UPSI Youth Eco-Innovators Summit 2024, participants departed with renewed aspiration and determination to champion sustainability efforts in their respective communities. The event served as a testament to the power of youth-led initiatives in effecting positive environmental change and fostering a greener, more sustainable future. On behalf of Universiti Malaya, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to UPSI for inviting UM to be part of this remarkable sharing platform, and respective collaborators (Universiti Sains Malaysia, All-Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia on Sustainable Development Goals: APPGM-SDG, and WWF-Malaysia) on the success of this sustainability chapter.
