Promoting knowledge exchange on Education for Sustainable Development initiatives
Universiti Malaya Sustainable Development Centre (UMSDC) recently hosted a dynamic exchange session on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), featuring a special study visit from RCE Tongyeong - Sejahtera Forest from South Korea to RCE Central Semenanjung (a dedicated ESD network hosted by UMSDC). A delegates of four members namely Blue Earth team (high school students: Junwoo Cha, Sandaeul Kang, Gukrok Kim, and Nayeong Kim), selected under the Bridge to the World program hosted by RCE Tongyeong, accompanied by Ms. Lee Woo Jin (Education Team of RCE Tongyeong) participated in this study visit.
The event fostered knowledge-sharing and collaboration among Regional Centres of Expertise (RCEs), focusing on innovative approaches to sustainability education and enculturation among respective communities. Participants explored the diverse initiatives of RCE Tongyeong - Sejahtera Forest and RCE Central Semenanjung, exchanging ideas on environmental conservation, community engagement, and holistic community development.

Prof. Dr. Zeeda Fatimah Mohamad, Mr. Mohd Fadhli Rahmat Fakri, & Ms. Nuratikah Mohd Zainodin), Water Warriors (Mr. Affan Nasaruddin), UM Zero Waste Campaign (Mrs. Mairuz Asmarafariza Azlan & Mr. Hisyamuddin Che Harun), and UM Community Engagement Centre - UMCares (Sr. Dr. Nurfarhana Azmi & Mr. Muhammad Asyraf Mansor).
The session, held at Universiti Malaya, provided a platform for both members of RCEs to deepen their understanding of ESD and its practical applications. By facilitating dialogue and networking opportunities such as this, UM aspired to play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable development agendas locally and globally.
