RCE Central Semenanjung participated in the 14th Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting of the Global RCE Network on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)
Hybrid Mode: 19 - 21 July 2022 (Tuesday - Thursday) via Zoom Meeting & IIUM
Countries in the Asia-Pacific region have rich history and cultures around sustainability shaped by indigenous and local knowledge. The reinforcement of such values in the Asia-Pacific region in spirituality, ethics, communal activities, and many other aspects of life would bring a more holistic and practical approach to sustainable development.
Under this year's theme, 'Empowering Local Wisdom for Education for Sustainable Development,' RCE Greater Gombak, under the leadership of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), hosted the 14th Asia-Pacific RCE Regional Meeting. This meeting includes a Real World Lab (RWL) visit for experiential learning in Jerantut and the closing event at the National Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Pedagogy at Kuala Lipis, Pahang.
Universiti Malaya via UM SDC, the home to RCE Central Semenanjung, participated in this gathering of ESD experts and practitioners from the global RCE network members and partners. Associate Professor Dr. Zeeda Fatimah Mohamad, Director of UM SDC, moderated the Discussion on RCE Thematic Collaborative Projects: 1) RCE Greater Western Sydney (SDGs Youth Challenge) and 2) RCE Dobong-hu (Global ESD Youth Project). The session also featured opportunities to participate in the upcoming programs on the 14th ICERD in Cambodia and SDG Academy for the free Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on SDGs. Congratulations to RCE Greater Gombak for representing the Malaysian RCEs in hosting the regional meeting.
