It is celebrated annually, and each year draws attention to a specific health topic of concern to people worldwide. The date of 7 April also marks the anniversary of the World Health Organisation (WHO)'s founding in 1948.
In 1948, countries worldwide came together and founded WHO to promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable – so everyone, everywhere, can attain the highest level of health and well-being.
WHO’s 75th anniversary is an opportunity to look back at public health successes that have improved the quality of life during the last seven decades. It is also an opportunity to motivate action to tackle the health challenges of today ̶ and tomorrow.
The day is all about creating awareness for the health issues of the needy and the less fortunate in poor regions around the world and reminding us to be grateful for our health and better take care of ourselves.
Let us explore outdoor activities like hiking, bicycling, walking, charity drives, and fundraising campaigns in the spirit of 'Health for All'. On another note, mental health is often most neglected and, owing to our hectic and stressful lifestyles, it’s very important nowadays. So mediation and therapy are greatly encouraged. Of course, we are what we eat, so choosing a healthy and balanced diet is as important as practicing an active lifestyle.
Join WHO on a journey to achieve Health For All.
