In a collaborative initiative aimed at advancing sustainability efforts in Malaysia, Yayasan Hijau Malaysia (YHM) and Universiti Malaya Sustainable Development Centre (UMSDC) have convened and hosted an exploratory meeting, the gathering marked the beginning of a promising collaboration to tackle sustainability challenges. This initial exploratory meeting was attended by Dr. Nurul Muiz Murad (Chief Executive Officer of YHM) while UM team comprises Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeeda Fatimah Mohamad (Director, UMSDC), Dr. Fong Chng Saun (Fellow, UM Carbon Neutral Living Lab), Ir. Ts. Dr. Yuen Choon Wah (UM EcoCampus Living Lab & Centre for Transportation Research - CTR), Pn. Nik Ibtishamiah Hj Ibrahim (CTR), and members of UMSDC. 

Representatives from both organizations expressed enthusiasm about the potential synergies between Yayasan Hijau Malaysia expertise in environmental sustainability advocacy and UMSDC’s strategic prowess in sustainable development. The meeting provided a platform for constructive exchange and brainstorming sessions to identify areas of mutual interest and collaboration.

As the meeting concluded, both parties expressed optimism about the potential outcomes. Plans for future joint initiatives, including green ambassador programs, sharing session, research projects, advocacy campaigns, and community outreach programs, are part of the discussion, signaling a promising future for green initiatives in Malaysia, from the lens of higher education institution working hand in hand with government agency.
