Campus Sustainability Sharing Session between UMSDC & Tsinghua University Student-Led Group (COSMOS):
Exploring innovative solutions and best practices for a sustainable campus through education and research
On January 29th, 2024, 10 student delegates from the Tsinghua University called COSMOS visited Universiti Malaya through UM Sustainable Development Centre (UMSDC) as the host. They are students from School of Environment, Xiuzhong College (School of Environment, School of Architecture, & School of Economics and Management), & Weiyang College.
The sharing session between both parties is eye opening and engaging, in particular the different approach and strategies each university takes in promoting campus sustainability and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) among staff and students, and beyond. UMSDC extends our heartfelt gratitude to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeeda Fatimah Mohamad (Director, UMSDC), Ir. Dr. Khairunnisa Hasikin (Fellow, EcoCampus) and Dr. Maziah Mat Rosly (RCE Central Semenanjung core member) for co-moderated the sharing session with Tsinghua University's delegates in the area of campus sustainability, living lab approach, and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
Apart from sharing session, delegates are also briefly introduced to the vicinity of UM scenery and a visit to Halaman UM to conclude the visit. UMSDC is excited to explore collaboration with Tsinghua University through research and education for future sustainability endeavors.
