The Office of Global Engagement (OGE) at the Institute of Engineering, Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), in collaboration with Universiti Malaya, successfully launched the Global Project-Based Learning (gPBL) 2/2024@SUT camp with approximately 50 enthusiastic participants.

The event began with a warm welcome address by Dr. Aroonsri Nuchitprasittichai, Head of OGE, setting a vibrant tone for a week dedicated to innovation and collaboration. Following this, Chm. Dr. Archina Buthiyappan delivered an inspiring session titled “SDG: Zero Waste Community”. Her engaging presentation on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and community-focused waste management ignited the participants’ imagination and motivated them to tackle pressing environmental challenges.

In the afternoon, Dr. Natdanai Chanlawong from the School of Industrial Engineering at SUT captivated the audience with his lecture, “Exploring Problems Using Engineering Tools”. He equipped participants with practical methods to transform ideas into tangible solutions, further energizing the group. The day continued with an exciting ice-breaking session led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Chitapong Wechtaisong. This dynamic activity fostered laughter, teamwork, and connection, creating a strong foundation for collaboration throughout the camp. The momentum carried into the evening as participants broke into teams for their first brainstorming session. The room buzzed with energy as teams shared bold, innovative ideas to address real-world waste management challenges.

On the fifth day of the camp, the morning began with a special lecture by Chm. Dr. Lee Ching Shya from the UM Centre of Innovation and Enterprise (UMCIE). Her session, “Pitching and Presentation,” provided participants with valuable insights into delivering impactful presentations and crafting compelling project pitches. This skill-building workshop helped participants refine their ideas, enhance their communication abilities, and prepare for the final presentations, ensuring a strong finish to their innovative journey at gPBL 2/2024@SUT.

This event reflects the dedication of both institutions to fostering global collaboration, equipping students with the tools to develop innovative solutions, and contributing meaningfully to a sustainable future. The participation of two esteemed Universiti Malaya (UM) members—ChM Dr. Archina Buthiyappan and ChM Dr. Lee Ching Shya—as invited online speakers, along with two UM students—Ms. Nur Arifah Zahidah Zulkifli from the Academy of Islamic Studies and Mr. Yap Yong Son from the Faculty of Science—significantly enriched the gPBL 2/2024@SUT camp in Thailand.
