UM -WOW 2023/2024 Student Facilitators Final Training Course
UM Sustainability and Development Centre (UMSDC) in partnership with the Student Affairs Department (HEP) UM, organized a 2 hours Sustainability@UM session at the UM-WOW 2023/2024 Student Facilitators (Pemudahcara Mahasiswa) Final Training Course at the Auditorium of PerdanaSiswa Complex (KPS) UM. This marks our second year intervention in empowering and sensitizing UM student leaders with sustainable and carbon neutral lifestyle.
A total of 200 student facilitators from 9 residential colleges and UM Central teams participated in this captivating sustainability activities. UMSDC Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeeda Fatimah Mohamad, shared the introductory chapter of Sustainability@UM and brief walkthrough on UMSDC, since its establishment, which includes a simple know-how in transforming events into a greener and responsible chapter.
Then, the session continued with an engaging group activity led by UMSDC & UM Zero Waste Campaign (UMZWC) team called "ECO-ARTISTIC COLLAGE," where they are challenged to create 'eco-cheers' and 'eco-collage' using used textiles on used banners based on sustainability issues / case studies within the theme of carbon neutral and climate action, provided on random picked. As a result, the First Residential College (ASTAR / KK1) successfully bags the first place, as evaluated by panel of judges. They are rewarded with a free guided tour of the Rimba Ilmu Botanic Garden sponsored by UMSDC, and will be given priority to represent UM at future sustainability-related events.
