UNIVERSITI MALAYA SUBSCRIBED TO GREEN ELECTRICITY TARIFF (GET) PROGRAMME WITH MALAYSIA  RENEWABLE ENERGY CERTIFICATE

UM Subscribed to Green Electricity Tariff (GET) Programme (Credit: JPPHB)
Universiti Malaya is now fully using its electricity generated from renewable energy sources. This initiative is carried out by the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Unit, Physical Maintenance Division of the Department of Development and Estate Maintenance (JPPHB) with the full support of the Director of JPPHB and Associate Vice-Chancellor (Infrastructure and Information Services). 
The due recognition by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to Universiti Malaya on this Green Electricity Tariff (GET) Program with Malaysia Renewable Energy Certificate commenced on 8 March 2022 onwards and will continue on annual basis. 

This sustainability shift toward renewable energy is part of the continuous commitment by the Universiti Malaya, while promoting its contribution to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 7 Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 13 Climate Action. This is aligned with its vision to become a carbon-neutral campus by the year 2050.

Universiti Malaya telah menggunakan keseluruhan tenaga elektrik yang dijana dari sumber tenaga yang diperbaharui (renewable energy resources). Usaha ini adalah hasil dari inisiatif Unit Kejuruteraan Elektrik & Elektronik, Bahagian Penyelenggaraan Fizikal JPPHB serta disokong sepenuhnya oleh Pengarah JPPHB dan Penolong Naib Canselor (Infrastruktur & Perkhidmatan Maklumat).
Pengiktirafan Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) kepada Universiti Malaya bagi langganan program "GREEN ELECTRICITY TARIFF (GET) with Malaysia Renewable Energy Certificate" adalah bermula dari tarikh 8 Mac 2022 dan akan berterusan secara tahunan.

Inisiatif penambahbaikan berterusan ke arah penggunaan elektrik bersumberkan tenaga boleh diperbaharui ini selari dengan hasrat Universiti Malaya menuju ke arah kampus berstatus neutral karbon menjelang tahun 2050 disamping terus menyumbang dalam Matlamat Pembangunan Mampan (SDGs).
